A Produce Picking Guide for All Seasons

Berkshire County is home to nearly 500 farms across 58,000 acres. With farmers markets from the northern to southern borders of the county, locally-grown produce is available pretty much everywhere! For those of you who are looking to pick your own berries, corn, pumpkins or apples, here’s a list of some awesome spots to check out!

575 Swamp Road, Richmond

We love the farm store at Bartlett’s - they have the best cider donuts in this corner of the Berkshires! For over 75 years, this orchard has been the perfect stop on a crisp autumn day. After labor day, stop by to pick some of their 13 apple varieties. When you’re done, be sure to visit the store for a delicious baked good and hot cider. Don’t go home without fruit jam or preserves!

47 Washington Mountain Road, Washington

This scenic farm is a well-known spot in the hiking community. It’s also home to a variety of delicious blueberries that you can pick during the summer months. Stop by in late July for peak picking. Customers can even purchase frozen blueberries from the previous season to use for at-home baking.

3475 MA-43, Hancock

Ioka Valley Farm has it all! This 85+ year-old farm has a great array of activities for any group to enjoy during any season. Ioka is a beautiful location to pick your own pumpkins and corn in the fall or Christmas tree in the winter! During the warmer months, stop by to feed and pet baby farm animals, enjoy a picnic, or even find a quiet escape in their farm book library.

94 Old Cheshire Road, Lanesborough

This family-owned and operated orchard is truly breathtaking. Stop by their farmstand for pre-picked fruits and vegetables, homemade pies, pastries, deli specialities and pierogi, apple cider, and more. Every July, their orchard opens for customers to pick their own cherries, raspberries, currants, blueberries, plums and apples. If you time your visit perfectly, you may even stumble upon our favorite - black raspberries!

101 New Hartford Road, Sandisfield

This gorgeous orchard is the perfect stop for summer and fall pickers, and last fall hosted the Sandisfield Historical Society baking contest. There are plenty of blueberries in July and over 1,500 apple trees to pick from during the autumn months.
